Introduction

Managing the sale of company vehicles is rarely a priority in the schedule of a business owner or an administrative manager. And yet it takes time: valuing the cars, publishing listings, answering buyers, arranging viewings, handling the Car-Pass, ownership transfers, number plates and the bookkeeping that goes with it... Multiply that by five, ten or twenty vehicles and it quickly becomes a project in its own right.

That is why more and more businesses in Walloon Brabant and across Belgium call on a car agent to handle it properly and quickly, without having to spend weeks of in-house work on it.

Situations where we can really help you

You don't have to be in a crisis to need to dispose of vehicles. Situations vary a lot, and we come across them regularly.

Case 1: Several leases ending at once

Several contracts end in the same period. The leasing company takes the vehicles back at their residual value, but you want to buy them out and resell them yourselves to make a margin. Or you are tired of the back-and-forth with the lessor and want to hand it all over to someone who knows the market.

Case 2: Restructuring or downsizing

Staff leaving, a merger, a change of business model: company cars are suddenly “surplus”. The urgency is often real, and selling fast without giving the cars away takes market expertise that not everyone has in-house.

Case 3: Switching to other forms of mobility

The company switches to the mobility budget, downsizes its fleet or replaces petrol and diesel cars with electric ones. The old vehicles have to go, but in an organised way, with the right documents, at the right price and within the right timeframe.

Case 4: Self-employed or small business

You have one or two business cars to sell and have neither the time nor the inclination to deal with it yourself between two client meetings. You just want it done, properly and at the best possible price.

What Garage Privé actually does for you

Our role is that of a car agent: we do not own the cars, we work for you. Being a neutral third party changes a lot. We have no stock to shift at all costs, and no interest in selling your vehicles off cheap or inflating prices to make a quick margin. Our only goal is to get you the best possible result within a timeframe that suits your constraints.

Our four-step process

1

We assess your fleet

We come and see the vehicles, carry out a full inspection and give you a realistic valuation based on the current Belgian market. No exaggerated promises, just an honest value.

2

We handle the entire sale

Professional photos, listings on the right platforms, screening of enquiries, arranging viewings. You have nothing to do on your side except give us the green light.

3

We secure every transaction

Payment through a third-party account, as with a notary. The money is held until everything is in order. No unpleasant surprises, no risk of non-payment or fake transfers.

4

We handle all the paperwork

Car-Pass, certificate of sale, transfer of ownership, deregistration of the number plates. Everything is handled by the book and within the legal deadlines, so you will not receive fines linked to vehicles you have already sold. Once the vehicles are sold and the formalities completed, the amount is paid into your account. Properly, with the supporting documents you need for your accounts.

Why this is different from selling yourself or through a traditional trade buyer

The first option many businesses consider is selling directly: publishing listings, finding buyers, handling viewings. On paper, it makes sense. In practice, it ties up time and resources that are often better used elsewhere.

The second option is to hand everything over to a bulk buyer, a car dealer or an intermediary who buys the whole fleet in one go at a low price to resell it at a comfortable margin. It is quick, but that is often where you leave the most money on the table.

A car agent is a third way: you get the speed and simplicity of a turnkey solution, but your vehicles are sold at market price, not sold off in bulk. And because we work for you, not for ourselves, there is no conflict of interest.

✅ In short: you entrust your vehicles to us, we handle everything from A to Z, and you receive the proceeds of the sale at a fair price, without your team spending a single hour on it.

A word on discretion

When a business is restructuring or going through a sensitive period, the last thing it needs is its company cars showing up on every platform with its name on them. We understand that, and we work so that the listings do not reveal the identity of the selling company. The process is discreet and professional, and handled like an ordinary commercial transaction.

💡 Good to know for fleet managers: since 2024, the Car-Pass includes the vehicles' full service history. If your cars have been well maintained and garage visits are recorded, that is a real selling point that directly raises the sale price. We know how to make the most of it in the listings.

FAQ

Not at all. We work with small businesses with one or two business vehicles just as we do with companies running a larger fleet. The process is the same, and so is the support. It is not a question of volume, it is a question of service.

It depends on the terms of the contract. Some lessors allow an early buyout followed straight away by a resale. In other cases, we step in at the end of the contract, when the vehicles are returned. We can review your situation with you and advise on the best approach based on what your contract provides.

It is the same mechanism used by estate agents and notaries. The buyer pays the amount into an independent third-party account. The funds are only released to you once all the conditions are met: vehicle check, documents in order, agreement of both parties. You cannot receive a fake transfer or end up with a car handed over and no payment.
